Throughout this project, I focused on missing identity but more specifically real cases of missing people and the harsh reality of society. Considering how far technology has come in recent years, I was shocked to notice the lack of quality in so many security cameras, resulting in so many cases of missing people being lost and therefore, forgotten, not being resolved. Therefore, throughout this project it allowed me to produce abstract designs, communicating the depth of this issue which is not spoken about enough, allowing me to raise awareness for this through textiles.
Distorting artworks through pixilation and blurring allowed me to reproduce the camera footage from these cameras, as well as layering different images and using light to allow some sections to be seen and others not so clear, carrying this communication through, keep the colour palette very limited to represent how black and white image restricts footage being seen accordingly.
