Having a focus of abstraction and geometric shape, taking this forward with an interest into a graphic finish. A lot of the inspiration around this project included robotics and machinery, leading on from the restrictive movement throughout the art form of DADA Ballet and incorporating line and distortion to show a lack variety of movement within these designs.
Having a variety of disciplines for the end uses allows the designs to exceed their initial purpose and having a range of colour, including monochrome, contrasting with a burst of colour, along with pastels throughout the disciplines, incorporating how the colours move under various pressures of different applications.
MENSWEAR
Producing a range of designs, tailored to a high-end market of menswear through positive and negative shape, leading into block designs within abstraction. Focusing on how various print processes, including vinyl, puff binder and devore, contrasting with various fabrics, including silk satin, cotton elastane Georgia and cotton lycra to create different movements when on the body. Looking in depth to how these manipulate the fabric to structure the body by the way they drape, sit above or mould to the shape of the body as well as the contrast between sheen fabrics to a matte finish or vice versa. Using a limited colour palette with only black and white allows the main focus to be the fabric manipulation and the reaction between the two main components.
Modern Interiors
Keeping this collection a lot more focused on the design element, distorting shape and geometrics as well as introducing line work a lot heavier throughout these designs, showcasing movement through a glitched distortion as well as the contrast between the dark colour along with the reds and illuminating greens, giving the designs a dynamic and rich finish. Also, thinking of composition and how line and geometrics can perform movement in different ways. Creating a range of digital prints along with hand printed designs, including variations of cottons, from poplin to drill, including heavier and lighter weighted fabrics to be suitable in within different places of the home. Also, introducing paper lengths to give a graphic, bold statement within a modern home by having the ability to cover the whole wall.
Sportswear
This collection is based around active lifestyles, incorporating pattern with shape to stylise a modern, graphic sportswear collection through a combination of hand and digital print. Allowing this style of abstraction to pour through the designs but also keeping it to the trends of sportswear including fabric and processes. Including a playful colour palette to separate the variety of elements within the designs as well as allowing different aspects to pop. This, along with the subtle processes such as gloss, highlighting movement whilst being active through the change of direction and reflection of light.
